Minimum Alimony Rate and its Calculation

Alimony is a monthly support paid by a separated parent for the maintenance of their child.

New alimony calculation procedure

Since the beginning of 2022, the procedure for calculating the minimum alimony rate in Estonia changed. It is no longer directly linked to the minimum wage, but consists of several components:

1. Base amount: A fixed amount indexed annually with the consumer price index.
2. Income-dependent part: 3% of the average gross income of the parent paying alimony.
3. Housing costs and family allowances: The number of children and family allowances are also taken into account.
